Alright, I am all for a good book and a great story, but I am also very aware of the Twilight non-sense and the world domination of Harry Potter, but what the hell is with these books?
Who knows about them?
Who has read them?
Who has had them recommended to them?
Has anyone completed all three of these?
Is anyone looking forward to the forth?
And finally, can somebody, anybody, explain this to me?
I don't need the plot ruined, not that I might read them, but they are everywhere!!!
Since cancelling my Comcast, and falling for the allure of Netflix Wii, my book reading has also skyrocketed!
So, if you liked it, say so.
If you think it was a good purchase, say so.
And, if you didn't like it, say so.
But please, for the love of God, SOMEBODY TELL ME WHAT THE CRAZE IS WITH THESE BOOKS!!!
As always, thank you...The Runner
Harry Potter and Twilight are great series..I look forward to future books....anything that takes me away from reality is na great way to unwind and dream...
ReplyDeleteI haven't read these books. The lastest book I read was the Calligrapher's Daughter and thought it was very good.
ReplyDeleteNot knowing anything about these particular books, I cannot comment on them. What I can say is that I do enjoy books that the main characters stay constant. After a while, you get to know them and their personalities. I'm wondering if this is the reason that "series" develop the following that they do. Might this be the reason that they're so popular?
I want to read the HP series...but have no desire to read the vampire ones..although my children and grandchildren love them.
I agree that character develop and consistency is very important in good books. I can't say that I "got" the whole Harry Potter series, and I have absolutely no idea what the craze is with Twilight, but I will have to look into "The Calligrapher's Daughter", thanks!
ReplyDeleteHas anyone heard of these books?
I am on #2 of these books. I definitely recommend #1 - slow start but I thought it was a great book. Slightly graphic at times but a great story. Read it! Let me know what you think. Second book is starting out really good as well.
ReplyDeleteSomething told me that you would be the one to have read these books!
ReplyDeleteI appreciate the comments, but I need to know one more thing...are these books about, or do they have anything to do with, vampires?
Thanks!
No no - no vampires in this series! Although I also LOVE the twilight books! These books are crime novels. But where did you see that there will be a 4th? The guy who wrote the trilogy died in 2004 and the three were published after he died. Nevermind - just read this "Larsson wrote about three quarters of a fourth novel before his sudden death in November 2004. His partner, Eva Gabrielsson, possesses the notebook computer with the manuscript; outlines or manuscripts for one or two more books may exist" - wu hoo! Anyway I think you should read the first one and let me know what you think.
ReplyDeleteWooHoo!!! No vampires!!!
ReplyDeleteOkay, so that combined with the fact that these are crime books make them more alluring, and yes, I probably will at least start the first. But, thank you for saying it starts slow. I have probably stopped reading many books based on a slow start.
Thanks!
Also, I guess I meant to imply another book. I did not know there would be a fourth, I just figured it was so amazing that these books were now everywhere, so I thought that they would follow in the twilight, harry potter track and just put out book after book, after book.
ReplyDeleteAlso, that is really sad that the author died.
I will offer this though, one of my favorite books is "The Godfather", yes the book. While the movies are obviously great I have actually re-read "The Godfather". The only book I have ever done that with.
Anyway, the author of "The Godfather" died while in the middle of writing "The Godfather Returns", very similiar to this situation, and I have to say, the book was very slow to get off the ground, and I have never really finished it.
I hope it's a different case for these though!
Thanks!
Oh and the book is also translated from Swedish so sometimes the translation is a little off - and words are written as organised instead of organized - takes some getting used to! Still read it though!
ReplyDeleteI have added it to my "To Read List"!
ReplyDeleteOk, I have to admit, I love the Twilight series. I have not read "The girl..." books, YET! I will be purchasing them this weekend and will start to read them as soon as I get them. Thanks for the recommendation.
ReplyDeleteWell get ready, because even thought the first one was already a movie, they are redoing with some really high-priced actors, so get your reading on!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
